本当は8時半に起きようと思ったんだけど、実際は9時45分。10時半に病院を予約しているのでかなりやばい。もはや諦めながら、小皿程度のお米と鮭を食べる。今日は病院に行ったその足で彼氏の☆☆と会うのでメイクもちゃんとするし服も考えていたらあっという間に時間過ぎて、もう無理と思ったので「10時半に予約していた$$という者なんですけども、はい、はい、出る時間間違えちゃって、ええ、本当に申し訳ないのですが、11時15分に…あ、ありがとうございます！では失礼いたします〜、」お電話した。

これで少し心に余裕を持てる。なので途中でセブンイレブンに寄る。節約関係なくカフェインは重要だからカフェラテのRを買った。カフェラテだけ買うのであれば、店内入ってすぐにレジに向かうべきなのに、何故か雑誌コーナーを見てしまって、POPEYEの特別編集『本と映画の終わらない話。』と目が合ってしまった。のでこれも買うはめになった。本と目が合うことがたまにあって、あまり興味のない分野でもそういう本は買うというマイルールがある。逆に事前にSNSとかでその本のことを知っていて買いに行くとする。書店でその実物を見て、あまりビビッと来なかったら買わないこともある。「目が合う」とか「ビビッと来る」とかに明確な条件は無く、半年ぐらい本を買わない時もあれば、1ヶ月で20冊ちかく買ってしまうこともある。

結局、病院の最寄駅に着いたのは11:17だった。診察を済ませお薬をもらい一服。馴染みの煙草屋で買い足し店主と少し話して、12:03の田園都市線に乗った。電車に揺られること30分。到着。☆☆と合流しセブンに寄り今日のお昼であるサーモンの寿司と７プレミアム焼カンノーロを買ってから、☆☆宅へ。のんびりしてから犬の散歩に行く。途中ばちばちに古着を着こなしているお姉さん(緑色のセットアップに黄色い柄シャツ、ウルフカット)を見つけてあがる。

今日は月食ということで郊外の展望台にでも見に行こうか、となったので少し遠いお出かけ。そこに行くのは高速を乗って１時間半かかるので、またコンビニに行き食べ物調達。その時かぼちゃのプリンを見つけた。やっと出会えた！行くとこ行くとこ売り切れで、今年はもう食べることが出来ないのかと思った。セブンのかぼちゃプリンは思い出の味。受験期に自習室でこっそりバレないように食べてた。車内で食べて良いか聞いてからいただきます。これよこの味よ。相変わらず美味いな。走っていくと東名入口、するとチケットみたいなのをもらった。(画像参照)なんか良いじゃん。普段あまり車に乗らないのでこういうのだけでも楽しい。高速からの景色は面白くて、恐竜ホテルとかあった。海老名SAは想像以上に広かったし、その中のトイレも広かった。トイレの個室の中にタッチパネルがあって、音姫とかビデが映っていた。試しに音姫を使ってみた。用が終わったから音姫も止めたら、『ご利用いただきありがとうございます。ご満足いただけましたか？（5段階評価のパネルが表示）』トイレでここまでやるか、と思った。私は便所で用を足せただけで満足よ。一服。仕切り直してまた車を走らす。高速を降り、一般道を進んでいくともう全く知らない道でどんどん坂を登っていく感覚。少しづつ街灯が減っていき、ついには道を走っている車は私たちだけになった。さらに進んでいくと道路の真ん中に明らかに不自然な鳥居が現れ、なんだか不安になってきた。こっちで本当にあってる？私はホラーの見過ぎで、車のナビが墓地に案内する、みたいな話とか、山の中の心霊動画とか思い出してしまった。あと単純に暗いのってこんなに怖いのね。普段過ごしているエリアがどれだけ電気まみれかよく分かったわ。暗い山道を急カーブの連続で登っていき展望台に着いたら。びっくりするほど人がいた。こんなに人がいるなら怖いものも寄らないか。ていうか既に月が欠け始めている。暗い中、☆☆は小さな望遠鏡を組み立ててくれている最中、私はとりあえず肉眼で見ている。徐々に赤みを帯びてくる月。なんか、これ前も見たことあるかもしれない。「＄＄ちゃん、出来たよ。」覗かせてくれた。「うおー！すごい！見えてる！！」月の模様まで見える。

思い出した。中学生の頃も月食を見たんだった。その時はじめて月食を見て、どの言葉にも当てはまらない感情になって、ああこれが心が震えるような感動か、と幼いながらに思った。また見れて良かった。大切な人と見れて良かった。山の展望台は寒くて、ずっとくっついて見ていた。ココア買ってくれば良かったね。

十分満喫したので山を下る。そろそろお腹が空いてきたし、この寒さにはラーメンでしょ。ということで近くのラーメン屋を探す。あまり来ない土地なのでチェーン店に入るのは野暮だと思う。ここの地元では有名な京都ラーメンの店に入った。ラーメンの他にもメニューがかなり充実しているので、半分居酒屋見たいな感じなのかな。ラーメンはシンプルなもので、ふわふわな九条ネギがたくさん乗っていて薄いチャーシューが美味しかった。あと私はあまりにもお腹が空いていたので追加で唐揚げを頼んだ。けっこう甘めな唐揚げだった。

満腹満足。温かいラーメンのあとはアイスでしょ！ということでラーメン屋の向かいにあったセブンでアイスを購入。車内で食べながら帰っていく。帰りの道中、本日閉店しているので誰もいなくて、なのに明かりがついている丸亀製麺があって、雰囲気エドワードホッパーの絵画みたいだったから「ホッパーみのある丸亀がある！」と言ったら彼氏の☆☆に一発で意味が伝わってちょっと嬉しかった。あとは見慣れない地名を見て読み方を当て合いっこしたり、途中でナビがバグったりした。☆☆は私を自宅まで送ってくれた。いつも助かっている。ありがとう。今日はクッタクタなので風呂に入ってさっさと寝た。おやすみなさい。

I was actually planning to get up at 8:30, but somehow, it’s already 9:45. Not great, considering I have a hospital appointment at 10:30. I quickly ate a small plate of rice and salmon, trying not to panic. Since I was also meeting my boyfriend, ☆☆☆, later, I had to do my makeup properly and pick out an outfit, which made time fly even faster.

“Oh, thank you very much! Well, excuse me!” I called out as I left.

Now that the appointment was over, I could relax a little. On the way, I stopped by a 7-Eleven. Even though I’m trying to save money, caffeine is essential, so I bought a regular-sized café latte. If I had just wanted the latte, I should have gone straight to the register. But for some reason, I wandered over to the magazine section, where my eyes landed on a special edition of POPEYE: The Never-Ending Story of Books and Movies. Seeing it, I got so excited that I had to buy it. I have this rule where I buy certain books even if I’m not particularly interested in them. On the other hand, if I discover a book through social media before going to buy it, I might skip it if it doesn’t appeal to me in person. Sometimes, I go six months without buying a single book; other times, I buy 20 books in a month.

I arrived at the station near the hospital at 11:17 a.m. After my checkup, I got my medication and had a smoke. Then, I stopped by my favorite tobacco shop, chatted with the owner for a bit, and caught the Den-en-toshi Line at 12:03 p.m. The train ride took about 30 minutes.

I met up with ☆☆☆ and dropped by 7-Eleven to grab some salmon sushi and a 7 Premium Baked Cannoli for lunch before heading to his place. After relaxing for a bit, we took the dog for a walk. On the way, I spotted a woman wearing a very retro outfit—green set-up, yellow patterned shirt, and a wolf cut. She really stood out.

Since tonight was a lunar eclipse, we decided to go to an observatory in the suburbs to see it. It would take about an hour and a half by highway, so we stopped by a convenience store again to grab some snacks. That’s when I finally found it—pumpkin pudding! It had been sold out everywhere I went, and I had given up on getting it this year. 7-Eleven’s pumpkin pudding brings back memories. During my entrance exam study period, I used to secretly eat it in the study room so no one would notice. I asked if I could eat it in the car and then took a bite. “This is it!” It tasted just as good as I remembered.

As we drove, we reached the entrance of the Tomei Expressway and got a toll ticket (see image). There’s something oddly satisfying about it. I don’t drive much, so even small things like this feel fun. The view from the highway was interesting—there was even a dinosaur-themed hotel! Ebina SA was much bigger than I expected, and the restrooms inside were surprisingly spacious. There was even a touch panel in the private stalls with options for “Otohime” (sound masking) and “Bidet.” I tried using the Otohime, and when I finished, a message popped up: “Thank you for using our service. Are you satisfied?” I was amused that they went this far for a restroom experience. Honestly, I’m just happy to use a clean toilet.

After a quick smoke break, we hit the road again. Once we got off the highway, we found ourselves on unfamiliar roads. The streetlights became fewer and fewer until we were the only car on the road. Then, out of nowhere, a torii gate appeared right in the middle of the road, giving us an eerie feeling. “Are you sure this is the right way?” I asked, remembering all those horror stories about GPS systems leading people to cemeteries or mysterious places in the mountains. Just being in complete darkness was unsettling—it made me realize how much I rely on artificial light in my daily life.

After navigating the steep, winding mountain roads, we finally arrived at the observatory. To my surprise, there were a lot of people there. With so many others around, the place didn’t feel as creepy anymore. The moon had already started turning red. While ☆☆☆ set up a small telescope, I watched with my naked eye as the color deepened.

“$$$-chan, it’s ready.” He let me take a look.

“Wow! I can see it! I can even see the moon’s surface details!”

It brought back memories—I had seen a lunar eclipse when I was in junior high school. Back then, I was so moved that I thought, Oh, this is what it feels like when your heart trembles with emotion. I was glad to experience it again, and even happier to share it with someone I love. It was freezing at the observatory, so we huddled close together the entire time. I should have bought some hot cocoa.

After watching the eclipse for a while, we headed back down the mountain. By then, I was starving, and in this cold weather, ramen felt like the only option. Since we don’t come here often, I wanted to avoid chain restaurants. Instead, we found a local ramen shop with a reputation in Kyoto. Their menu was quite extensive—not just ramen, but lots of izakaya-style dishes too. I ordered a simple ramen topped with fluffy Kujo green onions and thinly sliced chashu pork. I was so hungry that I also got a side of karaage. The fried tofu was unexpectedly sweet but delicious.

Completely satisfied, I felt like I needed dessert. After hot ramen, ice cream is a must, right? So we stopped by the 7-Eleven across the street and bought some ice cream to eat in the car on our way home.

On the drive back, I noticed a Marugame Udon shop with its lights still on even though it was closed. It looked like an Edward Hopper painting. I was happy that ☆☆☆ instantly understood what I meant. We also played a guessing game with the unfamiliar place names we saw along the way, and our GPS acted up again, making things even more amusing.

Finally, ☆☆☆ dropped me off at home. He’s always so thoughtful—thank you. I was completely exhausted, so I took a bath and went straight to bed.
